FIX:
Before attempt any conversion or migration process, backup everything. Make a working copy of everything involved, the database, the reports etc. Work with a development copy of the database and RESULTS files rather than the original production copy to ensure that any errors make are reversible.
The migration process of character RESULTS version 6 to character RESULTS version 8 or 9 involves the following steps:
1. Manually edit the .qc, .qd and .p files to reflect any changes in the database(s) name(s) if applicable.
2. Remove the fastload line from the qc file.
3. Remove the .r files.
4. Use the 4GL procedure DLC\tty\_resconv.p to convert the qc file to a .qc7 file. See ?Progress Results Administration and Development Guide? for more details.
5. Start results connecting to both databases and do an application rebuild.
First test with few reports to ensure that the process works as expected.
