Users experiencing extreme slowness moving between screens
Some users periodically sit with an hourglass on their screens for extended periods.
Workgroup database with remote 4GL and SQL-92 users connected
CHANGE:
Database recently moved to new 4 processor, fast disk Windows server
CAUSE:
Promon R&D menu, Activity Displays (2), Other (13) showed the "Wait on semaphore" to be in the thousands. The users were unable to access CPU resources and were timing out, causing the massive slowdown
FIX:
Install Enterprise database license to take advantage of the -spin option.
