GOAL:
Letter sent to customers about the end of the WSTK Technology Preview program.
GOAL:
Letter explaining the end of Webservices Toolkit Preview Program to general customers.
FIX:
December 5, 2003
Dear Customer:
Thank you for participating in the Web Services Technology Preview program. The program·s goal was to test the design and implementation of the OpenEdge platform·s first Web service tools. Your work with the Web Services Toolkit and your subsequent feedback has helped us develop a robust, commercial-quality set of tools. These new Web services tools will be made available as part of the upcoming OpenEdge Release 10.
The WSTK Technology Preview program will end 5 Jan 2004. At that time, we ask that you cease using the software. The maintenance contract for the software also expires on 5 Jan 2004, after which date we will not offer technical support. You are entitled to apply the cost of any Web Services Toolkit licenses to a future purchase of OpenEdge Studio or OpenEdge Application Server Enterprise Edition licenses.
At the outset of the program, we could not guarantee forward compatibility between the preview software and the commercial version. We are pleased to note that the Web services you developed using the Technology Preview of the WSTK will be compatible with the OpenEdge 10 environment.
We hope that you continue your Web services development with OpenEdge 10 where you can also take advantage of 4GL client-side support for calling Web services. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at dmccarth@progress.com.
Sincerely,
Drew McCarthy
