Yes, online backups can be used with after imaging enabled.
The online backup procedure automatically performs an AI switch against the busy extent prior to the backup. The AI file currently in use when the online backup is initiated will need to be known prior to the online backup. This is because the online backup will switch to the next AI file. The switched AI file ( the one that is busy after the online backup) will be the first to be applied to a restore of the online backup.
