CAUSE:
XP can look at a network and if it finds an available printer that it is not set up for it will automatically install it. The name shows up starting with 'AUTO'. In both cases the print jobs were being sent to 'AUTO' installed printers.
FIX:
Delete the printers and send the work to printers installed
the normal way, the error will stop.
