SYMPTOM(s):
Database log file reports vv_flush error
I/O error 118 vv_flush
vv_flush : I/O error 5 on fd1
Shared memory connections to the database.
CAUSE:
The database sent a message to the connected tty device but the PROGRESS client was no longer attached.
This occurs when a user shuts their terminal off and the _progres client never receives a HANGUP SIGNAL. This is often the case with users who telnet to the UNIX machine through a PC software emulation package.
The fd1 refers to file descriptor 1, or standard out. The vv_flush error by itself is harmless.
FIX:
Ensure the user is correctly logging out of the Progress Application and then closing the telnet session.
