error 24 (98) when increasing NFILES param doesn't help
DRAFT COPY - Currently under review and edit.
INTRODUCTION:
=============
This knowledgebase entry describes what to do when increasing the
NFILES kernel parameter does not resolve error 24 (98).
WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS:
===========================
If you are running on AT&T's flavor of Unix v.4, then the NFILES
parameter is obsolete and has been replaced with SFNOLIM (soft
file number limit) and HFNOLIM (hard file number limit).
PROCEDURAL APPROACH:
====================
If you are receiving error 24 (98), increasing SFNOLIM from 40 hex
(64) to 100 hex (256) should resolve your problem, although there
are known cases where this parameter has been increased to as high
as 400 hex.
