FIX:
There is no Progress utility at present that will send a warning on reaching a predetermined size in a variable data extent.
Use promon to monitor the extent sizes.
Run dbname promon
Type in R&D at the command line.
Select #1(Status Display)
Select #5(Files)
or,
Use a script to determine the size of the variable extent.
Use 4GL code to access this information in the _Filelist table.
