FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress/400 DataServer
SYMPTOM(s):
Receiving error CPE3420 when starting an AS/400 TCP broker with STRPRONET
CPE3420 - Address already in use
The Progress/400 DataServer broker is not starting
Both version 8 and version 9 are in the same machine
The Job log shows the following error:
TCP/IP- Broker - Domain TCP/IP service-name
Address is already in use TCP/IP broker for address domain has not been started
CPE3420 - Address already in use
The port number used to start the 9.1C broker is used with version 8 broker
CAUSE:
The port number or service name that is used to start the version 8 broker is used to start the version 9 DataServer broker. Since the version 8 broker is still running with the same port number, the above error was issued.
FIX:
Use a different port that is not used by any other processes to start the new DataServer broker. The port or service name entry must be in the services file.
