FACT(s) (Environment):
Oracle DataServer
SYMPTOM(s):
Getting error 1423 when connecting to ORACLE
There is no server for database <dbname>. (1423)
Started the schema holder with the probrkr command
CAUSE:
The schema holder is a normal Progress database. Therefore, it has to be started with the PROSERVE command instead of PROBRKR. PROBRKR is only used for starting an Oracle DataServer broker.
FIX:
Start a broker for the schema holder with the PROSERVE command:
proserve <schema holder> -S <service name> -N tcp -H <host-name>
