SYMPTOM(s):
Application uses Progress sockets
Application uses sockets to send and receive data from address standardization server
Makes many iterations, connecting, disconnecting and cleaning up
After 4,000 iterations, core dumps with memory violation
CHANGE:
Volume of requests being passed to the application increased dramatically
CAUSE:
All ports assigned to the pool of ports which can be dynamically allocated have been used and no more ports are available
FIX:
Increase the number of ports that are in the pool of ports which can be dynamically allocated. Please refer to your operating system vendor for instructions on how to increase the range of ports.
