Running the Progress Character client (_progres)

The size of the character client default window cannot be changed

Modifying the value for the "rows" option under the WinChar Default Window Section in the machine's registry or Progress configuration settings file (.INI) does not affect anything

CAUSE:

This is a product limitation.
The Character Client runs in a Windows command prompt window; the size of the default window depends on the settings of this command prompt window.

FIX:

Change the size of the window via the Windows settings, following these steps:

1) Run the Progress Character Client session in the manner it is set up (every situation is different).
2) Right-mouse click on the session's title bar and click on "Properties".
3) Click on the "Layout" tab.
4) Change the "Screen Buffer Size" values to 70 for the Width and 15 for the Height as an example.
5) Click on "OK" to apply the changes.
6) When prompted, select "Modify shortcut that started this window".
7) Close.
8) Restart the Character Client session.

Now the Progress character client default window size will follow the command prompt's default window size and will automatically adjust itself.
