FACT(s) (Environment):
OS/400 V5R1
SYMPTOM(s):
Broker(s) keep going down for no apparent reason
9 Brokers are present on the AS/400 server
Starts each broker with the default ports range (1025 - 2000)
There are about 1000 simultaneous client connections
CAUSE:
The port range is smaller then the number of simultaneous connections. If 9 brokers uses the same ports, there will be conflicts on the port and some brokers that do not find any unused ports will not be able to spawn the server and will go down.
FIX:
Increase the minimum and maximum port range in the STRPRONET screen before starting the broker. The port range needs to be distributed among all the 9 brokers. The minimum port range is from 1025 to 5000 and the maximum range is from 2000 to 6000.
