GOAL:
How to load Novell's 32-bit Client
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 95
FIX:
1) Go to WWW.NOVELL.COM
2) Select Technical Support
3) Select Search
4) Select Top 20 Files Download
(as with many web sites these options can change, however you
can get to the files by finding a selection "Browse files by
product" which should always be available, or doing a site search
on the executables mentioned below)
5) Select Netware Client 32 for Windows 95 -- there are 2 files, of
which you will only need one. One is for copying to a network,
the other is to make a set of diskettes. This example uses
the one for the network install.
6) Download c3295n_1.exe (or c3295d_1.exe for diskette installation)
7) Copy c3295n_1 to a temp dir.
8) Execute c3295n_1. This will extract the files you need to install
the 32bit client.
9) cd english
10) Run Setup.exe
11) Follow the instructions and reboot your system when it is
complete.
If you have a problem you can go to Network from Control Panel,
uninstall the 32-bit client, and reinstall the 16-bit client.
NOTE: There is also a patch available which will update the client from Version 1 to Version 2.01. If you want to install the patch you need to download c3295d.exe, copy it to a temp dir, execute it to extract the file, and then read the file called c3295d.txt. It is slightly more complicated to install the patch, but following the readme file should prevent any problems.
