GOAL:
Is there a 2 gigabyte limit for log files?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
As long as large files are supported by the operating system Progress is running on and by the format of the drives log files are not limited to 2 gigabyte in size.
When Progress writes to a log file (database log, AppServer log, Webspeed log) we perform an append to the file.
We do not try to reposition in the file.
There is no 2 gigabyte limit involved when writing to a log file.
The limit would be the available file space or Operating System file size limit, whichever is smaller.
