FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress/400 DataServer

FACT(s) (Environment):

OS/400 V4R4M0

SYMPTOM(s):

Progress/400 DataServer installation process on the system terminates while restoring PROSPORT library.

The LODRUN process is aborted and not all files are properly restored.

The error message in the joblog (CPF3821) indicates that three receivers: PRODBA4002, PRODBA5002 and PRODBA6002, were saved on a more recent release of the operating system and the conversion needed is not possible.

CAUSE:

The Progress/400 DataServer 9.1C is being installed on the system that does not comply to the PTF level requirements as stated in the Release Notes.

The issue is caused by the fact that IBM has implemented some major changes to the way journal receivers are created on V4R5 OS/400, which is the release where installation objects were originally saved.

FIX:

There are three independent ways to fix this problem:

1. Install the cumulative PTF (TL01072) for OS/400 V4R4M0, or

2. Apply IBM's fix MF24269 which is sufficient to get rid of journal receivers' issue, or

3. Install the DataServer product without PROSPORT library and, if needed, restore this library manually after installation process completes using the command:
RSTLIB SAVLIB(PROSPORT) DEV(OPT01) OPTFILE('/PROSPORT;1') RSTLIB(PROSPORT)
