FIX:

Progress policy concerning the application of Service Packs:

1. You should only apply a Service Pack if it fixes a BUG or problem clearly identified within your Progress environment.

2. Progress patches had fewer quality checks than Progress Service Packs (9.1D and later releases use the service pack model). Maintenance releases go through an exhaustive set of quality assurance tests

3. You should always make a backup of your application code and database before applying any Progress Service Packs.

4. You should always make a backup of your current installation directory structure prior to applying any Progress Service Packs.

5. You should always test any Progress Service Packs (within in a test environment) prior to applying them into a live (production) environment.

6. Always read the Progress Software README documentation that comes with any Progress Service Packs.
