Progress 9.x

SYMPTOM(s):
Installation fails with error.
There are no Progress services running on the system.
AntiVirus is not enabled.
No references from previous releases of Progress are present in the Registry.
Prolib / Proctrl are not in use.

CAUSE:
Progress detected environment variables that are pointing to an older release in the environment settings of the machine.
FIX:
On Windows NT:
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > System.
Click the environment tab
Remove any of the Progress variables still pointing to the older Progress release (DLC, PROMSGS, etc.).
On Windows 2000:
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > System
Click the Advanced Tab
Remove any of the Progress variables still pointing to the older Progress release (DLC, PROMSGS, etc).
