Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000

Progress 9.1D
CorVu

SYMPTOM(s):

Error 4406 returned when connecting ABA server to database:

This client is not licensed for remote connections. (4406)

ABA server is located on different machine to the database.

SQL clients connect to database ok using sqlexp.

CAUSE:

Progress Client Networking for your database version must be installed on the computer that originates the CorVu connection. The ABA server is a variation of the standard Progress _progres client executable, and has in itself nothing to do with SQL92 clients, so even if an SQL client can connect without problems, this doesn't necessarily mean that a CorVu client should be able to.

If you are using the Local Driver Configuration, this means that Progress Client Networking must be installed on your own machine.

If you are using the ABA Driver Configuration, this means that Progress Client Networking must be installed on the ABA Server machine.

FIX:

1. Ensure that Progess Client Networking licence is installed on the machine where CorVu is installed.
2. Ensure that the ABA server is installed locally on the machine where the database resides.

The appropriate ABA server for your platform can be downloaded from:
