GOAL:
How to plan the AI file extent size
GOAL:
How much disk space do I need for my AI extents
GOAL:
How do I determine how big to make my AI files.
GOAL:
How large should I make my AI files / extents
FIX:
To determine the amount of AI file space required, use the Promon utility BI Log Activity Display to monitor the number of BI writes that occur during the activity period that you want to use After-Imaging.
The information written to the BI almost matches the information written to the AI file, typically only 0.05 % fewer bytes are written to the AI file than the BI file.
A good formula is :
-Find the BI cluster size
-Find the number of checkpoints during a typical day using PROMON-Activity
-Multiply the BI cluster size by the number of checkpoints
-Multiply the previous result by the number of days between backups
