Connection from PROGRESS client to AppServer is TCP/IP only


For Version 8.1A of PROGRESS, only TCP/IP is supported when
connecting a PROGRESS client to an AppServer process.

It is important to note that this limitation does *not* affect the
manner in which the AppServer process connects to a database. The
AppServer's database connection can use any of the network types
supported in regular PROGRESS client/server.

The PROGRESS client can also initiate its own db connection using
any network type. It is only the connection established between the
client and the AppServer procedure which must use TCP/IP. (See
the diagram below.)
