High water mark versus total database blocks in promon
There is usually a lot of confusion surrounding the meaning of the
values in the promon Database Status screen. The Total number of
database blocks is equal to the physical database size. This number
is reported in blocks, and you need to multiply the number by the
operating system block size to determine the physical database size in
bytes. The Database blocks high water mark is equal to the largest
number of database blocks that contained data since the creation of
the database. Thus, the Total number of database blocks will always
be equal to or higher than the high water mark.
