GOAL:

Can Progress 9.x for IBM AIX be run on an IBM iSeries machine?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
IBM AIX

FIX:

Progress relies on IBM's claims that AIX on DLPAR is compatible and functionally identical to a "standard" AIX POWER implementation (that we support). Theoretically it should work w/o issues. However, the following should be taken into consideration:

The Progress 9 and OpenEdge 10 product lines have not been optimized to receive or respond to dynamic partition events and rely on the guest operating system for any DLPAR or LPAR features. In particular, support for dynamic CPU allocation relies on the operating system and dynamic memory allocation and de-allocation by Progress and OpenEdge processes is not supported.
