OS crash during abnormal database shutdown using ·pinshm on SOLARIS 2.6
System Panic
CAUSE:
Using the new switch ·pinshm introduced on 9.1D can cause a system panic and OS crash if the database process is abnormally terminated (i.e. kill ·9 on the database broker process).
This problem caused by bug on the kernel code for the SOLARIS 2.6 only. The problem did not occurred on the newer versions of SOLARIS OS.
FIX:
Some options to workaround this problem:
. Upgrade to a latter release of SOLARIS operating system.
. Remove ·pinshm from the database startup script.
Sun is in the process to release a kernel jumbo patch for SOLARIS 2.6 that will address the fix for this problem. The patch id will be 105181-33.
