Web Servers and Browsers Supported by WebSpeed 1.0 & 2.x
WebSpeed Transaction Server supports any Web Server adhering to the
CGI (Common Gateway Interface) 1.1 specification.
Although Progress does not recommend any Web Server or Browser in
particular, the following were used during WebSpeed testing:
The following applies to WebSpeed1.0 Only (See bottom for Webspeed2.x)
UNIX Web Servers:
Apache 1.1
NCSA 1.5
CERN 3.0
NT Web Servers:
Alibaba 2.0
WebSite 1.1e
Microsoft IIS 1.0
NOTE: The WebSpeed cgiip.exe is a 32-bit program. Therefore, on
Windows NT, the Web Server used must support execution of
32-bit programs, either by file association or batch file.
Web Browsers:
Netscape Navigator 2.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer
NOTE ON BROWSERS:
WebSpeed will support any browser that supports HTML 2.0 or above.
However, to use the State-Aware functionality provided by WebSpeed,
the browser MUST support Persistent-State Cookies. The browsers
noted above, along with a growing number of other browsers, do
support this feature.
KNOWN NOT TO WORK:
AOLServer 2.033 on Windows NT (former GNNServer). Also the v2.1
beta of this server did not work. The problem is that host name
resolution is disabled in CGI scripts started by this server.
WebSpeed 2.x
(See kbase 17042 Web Server and Browsers Supported by WebSpeed 2.x)
Web browser:
WeSpeed Workshop requires Netscape Navigator 3.x or Microsoft
Internet Explorer 3.x. The version of Internet Explorer you are
using must support JScript Version 2.0.
Deployed WebSpeed applications work with a broad range of Web browsers
At a minimum, the browswer must support HTML 2.0 as some WebSpeed
features rely on HTML 2.0 extensions (such as persistent-state
cookies).
Web server: (must support one of the following)
ISAPI, for example the Microsoft Internet Information Server
Version 3.02
NSAPI, for example Netscape Enterprise or Fast Track Server
Version 2.x
CGI, for example Apache or Netscape Enterprise or Fast Track Server
