GOAL:

How the serial number and control codes can be the same across different platforms.

GOAL:

Why are the Serial numbers for SCO OpenServer and Caldera Open UNIX / SCO UnixWare all the same?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.x

FIX:

For certain platforms Progress Software releases a generic release. For example, the Progress 9.1D release for SCO OpenServer and Caldera Open UNIX / SCO UnixWare is a generic V4 UNIX release (media id 177) that can be used to install on both platforms. A customer migrating their Operating System from OpenServer to UnixWare / Open UNIX will not require new serial numbers and products if they to plan on installing Progress 9.1D. However, in any given situation sales administration or technical support should be contacted to confirm whether new serial numbers and control codes are required.

This only applies to Progress 9. Progress 8.X shipped separate media and releases for OpenServer and UnixWare Operating Systems.
