Buffer stack overflow message - no number - on 2 Gig database backup
The last backup was not completed successfully. (1553)
Probkup fails on Database > 2GB
Upgrading to the latest commercial release is not feasible
CAUSE:
BUG# 20010801-055
CAUSE:
DB logs indicate backup was successful but when the database is restarted or ai enabled, Progress reports last backup was not successful.
The calculated size of the backup/restore was incorrect causing an overflow when attempting to format a buffer for message display purposes. This corrupts the pointer to the master block causing garbage to be written to the backup file in place of a real master block.
FIX:
This issue was addressed in Progress 9.1D
If unable to upgrade, the workaround is to use offline OS backup instead. The unsuccessful backup bit will not be set.
If using after-imaging, please refer to the Progress Documentation or contact your regional technical support to discuss the changes to the method needed.
