SYMPTOM(s):

This process terminated with exit code 1. (8619)

Can't start database multi-user mode

Can't use PROBKUP to backup the database.

Reboot does not help.

_mprosrv.exe shows in the Task Manager when the Database starts up, but then disappears.

CHANGE:

Installed Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000.

CAUSE:

The Progress installation has somehow become corrupted after the O/S Service Pack was applied.

FIX:

Uninstall Progress.
Make sure all entries in the Registry for that version have been removed.
Re-install Progress.
