FACT(s) (Environment):
UNIX
SYMPTOM(s):
Users can not connect to DB using shared memory.
There is no server for database <dbname>. (1423)
Remote users can connect to the DB using the parameter -S.
CAUSE:
The masterblock has corruption in the shared memory ID pointer.
FIX:
1) Proshut the DB using the -S parameter:
proshut sports -S sports_sr
2) Make a backup of your DB.
3) Prostrct repair the DB:
prostrct repair sports
4) Start the DB again if no problems arises.
