GOAL:
Download from progress FTP site, logged as anonymous
FIX:
You can use either a web browser or an FTP application to log into the Progress FTP site.
When connected you will be in the public area, either /ftp/pub or /ftp. You can access the directory and files as per the instructions you have received.
- Using an FTP Application.
For Anonymous FTP login, follow these steps:
1) Go to ftp ftp.progress.com.
2) Username: anonymous.
3) Password: <enter your email address>.
4) cd <where_told>
5) bin (puts you into binary transfer mode).
6) get <filename> (or "mget <file*name>" if several files)
- Using a browser:
Point your browser to:
ftp://ftp.progress.com.
Your browser possibly supports anonymous login by default when you request a URL using the FTP protocol.
If your browser is not set up to send your email address, you are prompted for a username and/or password. The username is "anonymous" and the password is your email address.
To download a file that Progress has made available to you, use the "save as" option in your file menu.
