SYMPTOM(s):
Unable to uninstall Progress
Unable to locate the installation logfile 'C:\WINNT|Progressuninstal91D' Uninstallation will not continue.
CAUSE:
This is expected behaviour for the reasons specified below.
FIX:
When an UNINSTALL of Progress fails with "Unable to locate the installation logfile", the following need to be checked:
1.) View the PROPERTIES of the UNISTALL shortcut icon and verify that the files referenced, actually exist where they are pointing to and that they are
ot/ READ-ONLY.
for example: W:\WINNT\IsUninst.exe -fC:\WINNT\ProgressUninstall9.1D
This is a common issue when the installation was performed across a network as a silent install for example and the drives are no longer mapped.
2.) Ensure that all Progress Services have been stopped, like the AdminService, ProService etc before the uninstall utility is run.
3.) Ensure java processes are not still running (for example, orphaned java threads still hanging around from Adminserver or Nameserver/Appserver).
4.) Check that the login in use has Local Administrative privalleges.
If the UNINSTALL still fails, we strongly recommend that the registry is first backedup (important!) and then manually remove your Progress installation in the following keys:
Example: Progress 9.1D installation
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PSC\PROGRESS\9.1D\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PSC\
NOTE : If you have other versions of Progress installed on the machine you will have to go through all of the subkeys to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PSC\
AdminService, Enterprice DB, etc. and to **only** remove the 9.1D keys.
There might also be other entries in the registry, but they depend on the licenses so also search the registry for the strings 91D, 9.1D and remove those but please be careful if you have other applications with version number 9.1D.
After this remove the Progress installation directory from the hard drive and delete the shortcuts from the start menu.
