GOAL:
Does one need the AdminService to start and access databases in version 9.1D
FIX:
The AdminService is only required if you need to make use of Progress Explorer and any of the related snap-ins.
This would then involve the conmgr.properties and ubroker.properties files located in the <install directory path>\properties directory.
You may place the AdminService in a disabled state and start the databases with scripts, manually or with ProControl
