Excel: How to specify the data type for each field in a ASCII, tab or comma delimited file generated from Progress 4GL
FIX:
This is not possible.
When opening this kind of file (ASCII) Excel process the data trying to "understand" which type the data is. So for example a value like 0032 will be interpreted as Integer by Excel and the leading zeros information will be lost.
If you want to export data from Progress to Excel with the data-type information embedded you should consider using either ActiveX objects or COM programming
