Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Installing Progress 9.1D with a Linux telnet session to an HPUX-11 machine.
The arrow keys do not work
Proinst on HPUX-11 results in corrupted screen output
FACT(s) (Environment):
HP-UX 11.0 64-bit
Linux Intel
OpenEdge 10.1A
CHANGE:
Linux keyboard setting set to xtermfree(xfree4xx) or xtermfree(xfree3xx).
CAUSE:
The server TERM setting and the client are different. If the client keyboard setting is changed to xtermfree(xfree4xx) or xtermfree(xfree3xx) and the server remains at xterm or another setting, then the arrow keys will not be mapped properly. The HP64 server TERM setting needs to be changed to xterm at the server console to avoid the corrupted screen output.
FIX:
Use an xterm terminal for the installation and set the xterm TERM setting on the HP machine. For the Linux terminal emulator, select settings, keyboard in the Linux console. Choose the vt100 (historical) keyboard setting.
