Using a file checksum before transferring an AI extent (on machine A) and the same file checksum after transfer (on machine B), you verify that no byte has been "modified" during the transfer.
"md5" is a program for producing a file checksum. It uses a complex algorithm to calculate a 128-bit checksum which is output as an alphanumeric string.
