Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
** This version of PROGRESS requires a start up procedure. (495)
Both Provision and Client Networking installed for Progress 9.1x
Progress 8.x Client Networking installed
PROCFG environment variable points to the Progress 8.x installation
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
Progress 9.1x
CAUSE:
By default Progress starts up the Progress procedure editor when invoking prowin32 or the _progres client. With a runtime client, this menu (procedure editor) along with other menus, such as Data Dictionary and Data Administration, are not available. This is expected behavior. The Progress 9.1x installation is picking up the PROCFG variable and as a result it is looking at the progress.cfg file from Progress 8.x. Since the Progress 8.x installation has only a runtime license, the error results.
FIX:
Remove the PROCFG variable from the Windows environment variables. The registry contains the proper PROCFG information for each separate Progress version.
