FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
SYMPTOM(s):
Application terminates with a memory violation
-O in parameter file
CHANGE:
The customer upgraded from version 8 to version 9
CAUSE:
-O is an old start up parameter from version 5. It was used to specify the number of private buffers. It is no longer used. In version 9, it caused the memory violation.
FIX:
Remove the -O start up parameter.
