GOAL:

How to start Background Processes when using Progress Explorer to start a Replication Enabled Database.

FIX:

When using Progress Explorer to start a Replication enabled database, all background processes i.e. AIW's BI and AI writer, must be started manually once the database has been started. To ensure this occurs, disable the automatic startup of these processes by right-mouse-clicking each database then selecting properties. On the displayed panel, make sure automatic startup is not elected for each type of process and the number of APWs is set to zero (0). Once the database is up and running, all background processes can be started using command line tools: for example, PROWDOG to start the watchdog or PROAPW to start a Page writer.
