FIX:
On UNIX: Start the Progress database with proserve <dbname> -S <port number>
On Windows: start->Programs -> Progress 9.1x -> SQL-Explorer Tool
-> File -> Connect -> Basic Format -> fill in host name, port number, Database name, User name and Password for user account of the UNIX machine
