GOAL:

Do the user spaces in the PROTMP library get created every time the application starts?

GOAL:

Are the user spaces created in the PROTMP library important to be replicated for the fail-over situation?

FACT(s) (Environment):

IBM AS/400 (RISC)

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress/400 DataServer

FIX:

The temporary user spaces in the PROTMP library are created whenever a job is started for broker and/or server, for client. These user spaces keep track of the runtime information such as pointer to the entry Data, length of job-specific data, system job status. The kind of information depends on the job type.

The temporary user spaces created in the PROTMP have the suffixes Pxxx followed by the job number: P001... for the broker, P002... for the server(s), P003... for the client. These should not be replicated since these are not relevant to the fail-over machine. In short, they should be excluded from replication and will be (re-)created when needed.
