GOAL:
How to verify the amount of memory allocated per database
FIX:
There are many database startup parameters that affect memory allocation for a Progress database. The most representative is the –B which defines the number of database blocks that the database broker will reserve in memory. There are, however, many others. An extensive list of parameters and their memory allocation unit can be found within the Database Administration Guide and Reference.
To verify how much shared memory the database is allocating, use the Progress utility PROMON, option 5 Activity, and examine the value associated with Shared Memory.
To get an even more detailed information regarding the shared memory segments used, access PROMON's hidden menu option by typing "R&D." Choose option 1 Status Display, then option 14 Shared Memory Segments. This will display the number of active segments, the defined segment size, how much is being utilized, and how much of the segment memory remains free.
