The support of Smart Data Fields was introduced in 2.0A02 (SP2) as said in Issuzilla http://www.possenet.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=8708. However, it was not mentioned in the release Notes of 2.0A02, and perhaps it will not in the Documentation of 2.1A. The Documentation group of Dynamics is now aware of that.
How extended fields are supported for Smart Datafields:
1) Static combo SDF now allows the use of extents in the description fields.
2) Dynamic Combo and Dynamic Lookup now allow the display of extent fields in the Combo and in the Dynamic Lookup browse.
3) Filtering on the Lookup browse is not allowed for extent fields.
4) For the Dynamic Lookup all extents of a field will be displayed if a field with an extent is selected for display in the browse.
5) For the Dynamic Combo you can select the extent fields individually.
Point 2) 3) and 5) also mean that a lookup cannot display an extended field in the target fill-in.
