SYMPTOM(s):
Database crashes with system error 3831.
SYSTEM ERROR: rlrdprv: note len too big (3831)
Begin ABNORMAL shutdown code 2 (2249)
Truncate bi of the database results in system error 7167.
rlrdnxt: note prefix and suffix lengths don't match. (7167)
Database located on an NFS (Network File System) drive.
CAUSE:
Progress will report system error 3831 if the BI note we try to read exceeds a certain (hardcoded) limit. This indicates corruption of the BI file(s).
FIX:
Check operating system and file system logs for errors. Restore backup of database (and roll forward AI files if After Imaging is enabled).
