SYMPTOM(s):
Problem connecting from a PC client to a UNIX database
** Could not connect to server for database <DATABASE>, errno <ERRNO>. (1432)
Ping by the hostname from the client PC to the UNIX server fails.
DHCP not being used in this system.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Local client on the UNIX box can connect to the database using -H localhost -S <port used to start the database> for connection parameters.

Telnet to database startup port on UNIX sever succeeds from the PC.
Telnet to the service name rather than the port succeeds as well.
CAUSE:
Incorrect IP address for server hostname in the clients hosts file
FIX:
Correct the IP address listed for the UNIX database server in the hosts file of the client.
