FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 2003 Advanced Server
FACT(s) (Environment):
IIS 6.0
FACT(s) (Environment):
WebSpeed 2.x
FACT(s) (Environment):
WebSpeed 3.x
SYMPTOM(s):
The page cannot be found" which is a http 404 error.
CAUSE:
Microsoft's Internet Information Server 6.0 (runs on Windows 2003
Server) has increased its security capabilities and as a result,
straight out of the box, IIS version 6 will not let WebSpeed function
correctly. Specifically, it disallows cgi and isapi extensions, the
resulting errors are: "The page cannot be found" which is a http 404
error.
FIX:
On the Windows 2003 server go to control panel and pick Administrative Tools.
Choose Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
This will bring up a console window for the IIS web server. From this control, expand the name of the server, then expand the Web Sites folder and then highlight the Web Services Extensions sub folder.
This will display the Web Service Extensions applet, within which are two pertinent extensions: All Unknown ISAPI Extensions and All Unknown CGI Extensions. Both have default values of Prohibited.
If you are using the WebSpeed cgiip.exe messenger, highlight All Unknown CGI Extensions and then press the Allow button.
Note, the status field will change from Prohibited to Allowed.
If you are using the WebSpeed isapi.dll, then repeat specifying the appropriate extension.
Once the Messenger extension has been "Allowed", then retry a WebSpeed URL and you should see that the URL is resolved successfully.
