SYMPTOM(s):
The Progress 8.3x install program erroneously detects insufficient free disk space even though there is plenty of disk space left.
The installation utility has detected that there is insufficient disk space available
CAUSE:
The Progress 8.3x installation routine is only able to handle a maximum of 4GB correctly. When there is more than 4GB of free disk space, it will truncate all values before the decimal symbol. The decimal value is then reported as the amount of free disk space.
FIX:
One solution would be to have less than 4GB of free disk space. The other solution is to make sure you have a high decimal value reported in the OS free disk space. For example:
4.07 GB free disk space will be reported as 81.26 MB.
Approximated by: 81.26 / 1024 = 0.079 GB
You can roughly calculate it the other way around by:
0.07 * 1024 = 71.68 MB
NOTE: These calculations are used to obtain an approximation of the real value. This is due to the rounding factor of the OS itself.
