SYMPTOM(s):
Performance problem with AS/400 Dataserver.
large record (greater than 5K in length) retrieval was slow.
CAUSE:
The network is heavily loaded breaking a long record into smaller messages for transmission to the client machine. The query result set subsequently appears to be very slow when assembled on the client.
FIX:
Increase -Mm (message buffer size) startup parameter on the client, allowing larger network message and a faster query resolution.
