HPUX 10.10 V8 installation cannot locate /bin/sh
This kbase is being generated to assist users experiencing
the following error when trying to install Progress.
Error: Cannot locate /bin/sh
The error occurs after the user enters ./proinst command. This
command tries to invoke #!/bin/sh as part of initialization. HPUX
10.x makes use of symbolic links. In the case above /bin/sh should
contain a symbolic link to /sbin/sh. The error above means that your
HPUX machine is not configured with symbolic links.
Symbolic linking is initiated during Operating System Software
installation. There is a shell script, "instlink" which performs
the operation of symbolic linking. If you are experiencing the
error above, please contact your Operating System Software vendor
for assistance in initiating symbolic links on your system. Once
this is completed, the Progress installation will proceed as
expected.
