GOAL:
How to start up a database using the Progress Explorer Tool?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
Before beginning, make sure that an AdminServer is running.
On Windows, the NT task Manager should show AdmSrvc.exe running.
On Unix, use "proadsv -q" will be able to verify admin server status.
1) Open Progress Explorer icon.
2) Right-click on Progress Explorer and choose "Add Progress Server ..." or choose "Add Progress Server ..." the Action menu.
3) In the General and Advanced tabs, enter the information of the AdminServer being connect to.
4) Connect to the AdminServer by right-click on Progress Explorer or choose Connect from the Progress Explorer file menu.
3) Right-click on the Databases folder and select add databases.
4) For Name of Database enter a name you wish to use to refer to the database. File Name is the path and actual database file name.(e.g.: C:\myfolder\working\dbname)
NOTE: This database must already exist. This tool does not create a database.
5) Now, there should be a folder with the database name you specified in the previous step. Select this folder and expand all folders below. You should have Configurations and two Default folders. Select the last default folder and enter the Service Name or Port # you choose to use then click on Apply.
6) Leaving all other setting at the default you should be able to go back to the database name folder and select Start Config to start the database. The status folder should display Running if the database started successfully.
