What SHUTDOWN parameters may be used in ProControl for a database?
FIX:
The following parameters are valid in the SHUTDOWN parameter input box for ProControl.
-by
Performs an unconditional batch shutdown and disconnects all active users. Note: notice is not given to users before disconnecting them.
-F
Starts an emergency shutdown. This parameter may only be used on the machine where the server resides. This parameter is not applicable for remote
shutdowns.
-H host-name
Specifies the machine where the database server runs. If issuing the shutdown command from a remote machine, specify the host name.
-S service-name
Specifies the database server or broker process. If issuing the shutdown command from a remote machine, specify the service name.
-cpinternal codepage
An internationalization startup parameter that identifies the code page used in memory.
-cpstream codepage
An internationalization startup parameter that identifies the code page used for stream I/O.
NOTE: The information above is not documented in any book.
ProControl was a tool designed in Progress 8 and is currently included in Progress 9. However, it is recommended that the Progress Explorer tool be used in Progress 9 as ProControl will go away in the future and Progress Explorer is the currently supported tool for maintaining databases.
